Our Kindergarten is focused on teaching our students through socialization skills, developmental play and innovation throughout the curriculum.
At Fifth Dimension we recognize the importance of offering a holistic and age appropriate learning environment in the early years, particularly at school entry level.
As such, the school will implement the California Preschool Framework, alongside the Kindergarten Academic Standards. This framework supports children’s learning experiences by promoting learning environments that are:
- Age and developmentally appropriate
- Inclusive of children of determination
- Culturally sensitive and meaningful
- Reflective of intentional planning and reflective assessment.
The framework supports promoting learning through play and independent child-directed activities. It allows teachers to individualize the curriculum based on children’s knowledge, needs and requirements. The inclusive strategies, domains and core fundamentals, all support quality, access and equality. All of which will be at the core of our approach to teaching and learning. The strength of the KG curriculum will be amplified by the inclusion of such supportive frameworks and will ensure that the children master the key learning skills and foundations to successfully transition on to the Elementary grades.
The California Arts Framework will be used to support teachers in translating artistic content and practices into understandable, age appropriate and relevant instruction. This will assist in the development of artistic literacy and lay the foundation for children to make connections between the arts and core subjects.

It is important that our students enjoy coming to school and learning so we ensure they feel like they belong to our school community. We communicate regularly with parents in order to make sure their children are being supported in the best ways.
We utilize different learning environments, including digital and outdoor learning, to enable our students to gain confidence and independence in exploring new experiences and learning more about themselves.
Our Kindergarten teachers are specialists and are trained in providing emotional and developmental support allowing students to learn and understand through engagement and creativity.
